The Edo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, “for his role in trying to disintegrate the party in the state.”
The Edo state chapter of Nigeria’s governing party also suspended its chairman, Anselm Ojezua.
The State Secretary of the APC, Lawrence Okah, was also sacked.
“The Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has removed the State Secretary of the party, Mr Lawrence Okah,” announced Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Strategy, Crusoe Osagie. “This is coming as party chairmen across the 18 local government areas of the state passed a vote of no confidence in the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole,”
According to the APC Deputy Chairman in Edo State, Kenneth Asekomhe, “after the meeting of the State Executive Committee, in pursuant of Article 17, Section 5 of the APC constitution of 2014, as amended, we have passed a vote of no confidence in the state secretary of the APC, Mr Lawrence Okah. He is hereby removed from office.”
The APC chairmen in the 18 local governments of the state also reaffirmed their support for the second term bid of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The APC Chairman in Esan Central LGA and Secretary, Edo State APC Chairmen Forum, Mike Anakaso, said the chairmen passed a vote of no confidence in Oshiomhole for his role in trying to disintegrate the party in the state.
‘We were forced to sack Oshiomhole’
In another twist in the tale, some APC local government chairmen in Edo denied that they had passed a vote of no confidence on Oshiomhole.
A statement by the leaders of the chairmen and chairman of the party in Etsako West, Mr Ibrahim Akokia, Suleman Bagudu (Etsako Central) and Lugard Alukpe (Owan West) said.
“We are the chairmen of the party in the 18 LGAs and we are not aware of the meeting where a vote of no confidence was passed in the national chairman of our party, Oshiomhole, who is doing very well.
“Rather, we are aware that majority of the chairmen have suffered intimidation and harassment in the hands of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration.
“Therefore, we chairmen have passed a vote of no confidence in Governor Obaseki, and the suspended state chairman of the party, Anslem Ojezua. They have not only failed the party, but the people of the state.
“Oshiomhole remains our leader and we pass vote of confidence in his leadership.
“We call on the National Working Committee of the party to expel Obaseki from the APC because he is on a mission to destroy the APC in Edo State, but we will resist it.”

US opposes Nigeria’s plan to hand Kebbi governor $100m from Abacha lootThe United States is opposing plans by Nigeria to give $100 million from loots recovered from former Nigeria military dictator Sani Abacha to Kebbi State governor Atiku Bagudu.US Department of Justice said Bagudu was involved in corruption with the late Abacha who Transparency International (TI) said may have looted as much as $5 billion during his 1993-98 rule in Nigeria.DoJ also contends that the Nigerian government is hindering U.S. efforts to recover allegedly laundered money it said was traced to Bagudu, Bloomberg reported on Friday. DoJ said in a statement earlier in the month that Bagudu with Abacha and Abacha’s son Mohammed Sani Abacha “embezzled, misappropriated and extorted billions from the government of Nigeria and others, then laundered their criminal proceeds through U.S. financial institutions and the purchase of bonds backed by the United States.”“The United States has asked the government of Nigeria to withdraw litigation it has instituted in the UK that hinders the U.S. effort to recover these additional funds for the people of Nigeria,” DoJ said in February 2020.According to the Bloomberg report, the Nigerian government said there is a 17-year-old agreement that entitles Bagudu to the funds and prevents Nigeria from assisting the U.S., according to recent filings from the District Court for the District of Columbia in Washington. This case illustrates how complex and contentious repatriating stolen assets to Nigeria can be,” said Matthew Page, an associate fellow at London-based Chatham House and former Nigeria expert for U.S. intelligence agencies.“Instead of welcoming U.S. efforts, Nigeria’s lawyers appear to be supporting the interests of one of the country’s most powerful families.”Prior to this, Nigerian governments have sought to recoup the money looted by Abacha, who died in office, and have so far repatriated more than $2 billion with the cooperation of other countries, according to U.S. court filings. In the case involving Bagudu, the U.S. in 2013 initiated a forfeiture action against a host of assets, including four investment portfolios held in London in trust for him and his family, according to the district court filings.
Polygamy Should Be Allowed to Reduce Cheating In Marriages – Gospel Legend Stella SealLegendary Ghanaian gospel singer Stella Seal , formerly known as Stella Dugan, has a surprising outlook on polygamy. What with being a gospel singer and all, you’d think she would have some ‘old-fashioned’ views on marriage ie ‘one man, one woman’.However, in a chat with Becky on ‘E with Becks’, Seal said she has no problem with polygamy. She said she even believes if it’s allowed it could help curb cheating among couples.“If a married man can be responsible enough to take another wife instead of having multiple girlfriends, then let him,” she said.“If you think you love the woman enough, do the needful or fix your marriage. I speak to ladies who tell me they have four to six boyfriends just because they don’t know who will give them security,” she added.Seal, who used to be known as Dugan, is one of Ghana’s most beloved gospel singers from the ‘golden age’ of gospel.

Truth be told, I’m scared of marriage and I don’t think I will ever get married.Though I wanted to have kids when I was younger but not now, it is too late. Why I said it’s too late for having children is that I am a workaholic and I don’t like a situation where I would want to sleep and then a baby starts crying. My parents have been begging me to get married but no” he said.On what he looks out for in a woman, Olu Michaels said;“I am a jealous man. Where they at?!“And then Jlissa confirmed there’s actually somebody out there who shares the same experience as me.“I was just like, I have to find her.“When you don’t see people like you, it feels like you’re the only person in the world that’s like that.“Everybody needs an identity. But it’s those moments where you need somebody like you because we have our own struggles that they could never relate to.”Some 30 years ago, doctors predicted Jlissa would never be able to lead a normal life and, to this day, she is still unsure of what caused her abnormalities. But Jlissa has certainly proved her doubters wrong – learning to use her feet when conducting everyday tasks like brushing her teeth and texting on her phone. She said: “Most of the questions I get are basically, ‘How do you eat?’, ‘how do you write?’, ‘who takes you to the restroom?’, ‘who puts your make-up on?’.“My condition hasn’t affected anything in my life.“There are so many people that aren’t able to be themselves because they are scared of the world.“You need to be yourself and be thankful. That’s what me and Chassidy are doing now.”Chassidy can also use her feet to perform activities that she would otherwise struggle with. They have been on the receiving end of lots of staring and pointing in public spaces, but they’ve quickly learnt to ignore their haters and stay positive with the people closest to them.Chassidy said: “I prefer it for kids to come up and say to me, ‘Hey lady, what’s up, where’s your hands at, why are you so little like me?’“And then we can have a conversation. I always try not to be offended.“I don’t call it disability, because that makes it sound like something is restricting you from doing something else. It restricts you from getting from A to B.“But I’ve made it. A, B, C, D. E, F, G – you name it.”Jlissa and Chassidy have racked up thousands of followers on their social profiles.
